The United States Embassy in Seoul is the central building between two modern structures on Jongno Boulevard just in front of the palace. When it was built back in the 1970s, the American Embassy was impressive, but now it is the only building remaining in the area that is not modern. To the left is the former Ministry of Culture and Tourism now reborn as a museum remains basically the same height, but it is otherwise transformed.
There is a sense in which Seoul is undergoing a form of “Dubaiation” with the constructing of massive buildings throughout the city which are of a scale beyond the average person. It is a loss overall.
