Founding of the “Global Convergence Technology Forum” in Daejeon

March 8, 2012

I had the great pleasure of attending the launching of the “Global Convergence Technology Forum,” the legal NGO form for the Global Convergence Forum that I helped to found in Daejeon about 19 months ago. The meeting was presided over by Professor Jeon Duk Young of KAIST, one of the visionary individuals in Daejeon who fully grasped the value of such a forum for debate on the potential in convergence. Dr. Liu Jang Ryol of KRIBB (Korea Research Institute for Bioscience and Biotechnology) was elected as the first chairman of the legal entity.  Dr. Park Yoon Won, presently President of KINS (Korea Institute for Nuclear Safety) could not attend, but I managed to meet him in his office just before the dinner.

There were members of the business community such Park Kyung Ho, a visionary individual in his own respect. Mr. Park gave the closing remarks.

All members of the Global Convergence Technology Forum affirmed the importance of global collaboration—a fact that had great significance for me personally. The  Global Convergence Technology Forum pledged to work closely with the Asia Institute going forward.
