Climate Change in Seoul

Our house still has mosquitoes at the beginning of November. They come up through the water pipes. I stopped by a neighborhood pharmacy and asked if they had insect repellent.

“No,” said the store owner, “We don’t have anything left.”

“But there are still mosquitoes out there!” I blurted out.

“I know,” he said with resignation, “but the season for mosquitoes is over.”

I have several other odd experiences like this one of late. Not uniquely Korean in any sense.
