Professor Marc Shell, Irving Babbitt Professor of Comparative Literature at Harvard University, delivered a compelling talk at the Asia Institute Seminar\u00a0\u201cThe Past, Present and Future of Money” \u00a0on April 27, 2012 in which he described the cultural, political, ideological and aesthetic aspects of money in historical perspective.\u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The economist Professor Kim Kihwan of the Korea Development Institute offered his interpretation of the talk and members of the Korean financial community, including the Bank of Korea, were present.<\/p>\n

Professor Marc Shell\u2019s talk on Friday, April 27 on \u201cThe Past, Present and Future of Money” drew a enthusiastic group of thoughtful individuals to GCS International for the Asia Institute Seminar. The talk itself was a rather involved consideration of the history of language and currency, and their interplay over the last three millennia. The talk was based in part on Professor Shell\u2019s article \u201cFrom Electrum to Electricity.\u201d<\/p>\n
